Here’s a fun one! An Italian sextet lead by Ersilia Prosperi who composes and plays the trumpet and ukulele, in artsy and quirky tunes that are sung in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and even Sardinian. She brings together Sabrina Coda/as-ss, Martina Fadda/voc, Luca Venitucci/key, Claudio Mosconi/b and Cristiano De Fabritiis/dr-perc for 12 pieces that are divided between short little vignettes of voice and horns and 4-6 minute pieces that swing, sway, bounce and groove with joy. Catchy pieces such as “Tutti In Fila” are counterbalanced by angular pieces such as “La Mentita’ and “C’e la Crisi? which is textured with extra brass and reeds.” Lots of energy is felt, and the Coda’s solos have a lithe energy to them. This one’s a keeper for indie fans.
